Jersey City, NJ (July 12, 2006) – Comodo, a global leader in Identity and Trust Assurance Management solutions for the Internet, was recently named as a finalist in CNET's UK prestigious Technology Award 2006. CNET, a leading global media company covering technology and security-related products, selected Comodo from hundreds of competitors in recognition of Comodo's innovation in Identity and Trust Assurance solutions.
Comodo was named as a finalist for its patent pending VerificationEngine (VE) product that uses Comodo's proprietary See, Verify, Trust (SVT) technology. With VE, consumers can defeat phishing attacks by verifying that a web site's content such as a logo graphics or bank log-in boxes belong to the business the web site claims to be. This allows consumers to interact with online businesses with a higher level of transparency and site ID assurance. Currently, VE now protects the home page logos of over 70,000 eCommerce sites.
To activate this level of site identity assurance, consumers simply download the free "reader" called VerificationEngine which provides an indicator that confirms the site identity with a non browser-based and thus non spoofable indicator that ensures virtually risk-free transactions. VerificationEngine is a critical component of Comodo's mission to create trust online by defeating security attacks before they happen.
CNET's UK technology awards recognize, "innovation application and excellence in technology and business". Comodo has been selected as a finalist in the highly competitive Security Product award category. This distinction is being awarded to security companies demonstrating success with developing innovative solutions that deliver true value to the marketplace. Comodo's VerificationEngine was recognized as a solution to defeat the next generation of highly sophisticated and blended online phishing and pharming attacks. Comodo's overall commitment to create online trust through its Identity and Trust Assurance product suite, dedication to protecting consumers and an unmatched "white list" approach to defeating phishing scams and viruses made it a perfect candidate for the award.
"We are honored to receive this recognition from CNET since it reflects Comodo's commitment to protect consumers from phishing scams and identity theft," said Melih Abdulhayoglu, CEO of Comodo. "As the Internet becomes a pervasive way for people to connect and conduct business, Comodo is taking the lead in providing the authentication and verification technologies to bring trust back to e-business."
